Portugal's annual personal income tax filing window opens on the 1st of April and closes on the 30th of June. If you've been living in Portugal during 2025, now is the time to start getting your documents in order.
You're required to file a Portuguese tax declaration if:
If either of the above applies to you, you have a legal obligation to file before the 30th of June deadline.
With Touchdown, the process runs in four simple steps:
We handle dual filings for both US/PT and UK/PT tax situations, accounting for treaty considerations on both sides.
Income classification, missed deductions, and dual-tax treaty errors are the most common issues we see, and the most costly to fix after the fact. Getting it right the first time is far cheaper than correcting it later.
Touchdown specialises in relocation, tax strategy, and business setup for entrepreneurs, business owners, retirees and expats landing in Portugal.
Your declaration is filed by a bar-certified Portuguese tax lawyer, not a generalist accountant. We’ve filed hundreds of returns for expats with multiple sources of income from different jurisdictions.
The full tax return is €499. To reserve your slot now, you can purchase the Portugal Income Tax Return directly on our website. We’ll reach out to you with the required documents and next steps promptly.
Every type of income declaration is covered:
If you have questions before committing, book a free introduction call with our team and we'll walk you through it.
Note: Touchdown subscribers on the Freelancer and Company accounting plans already have their annual tax declaration included.
